Texasville reponse
Currently I am reading Texasville by Larry McMurtury. I haven't quite figured this book out yet, but it doesn't really have a story line to it. Texasville mainly just follows around the owner of a bankrupt oil company. I think I like it for this reason. Like I've said in other blogs, and things I've written this is the most hilarious book I've ever read. It is kind of hard to describe the plot, because there isn't really a story going on.
100 word short story
Well lets start this story by talking about what I did today. I woke up at 10:34 and quickly went downstairs to get something to eat. I wanted some fruit, but instead had leftovers, because that was the only thing we had in our fridge. I then proceeded to head upstairs to shower and brush my teeth, after that my mom and I went to Dick's to look for some cleats, buy we didn't find any. We then went to the food court at the mall where I stood in a line for 30 minutes to get some Chinese food. When I got home My brother, cousin and his bestfriend and I decided to go to goat island. We snuck onto the Burden rural life museum's property, walked for about a mile, saw this island in the center of a lake with some goats on it, and we decided to swim out to it. I had brought my team rope, or lasso as you city folk would call it and started roping those goats on that island. It was some of the most fun I have had in awhile, but I don't think it was very fun for the goat. One time I roped it and my cousins friend decided to ride it. That didn't last all but 5 seconds, because the goat could barely hold his weight. Long story short: Those goats probably have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

advice for a 12-year old
Dear 12-yar old, always do your homework. I have earned this the hard way, it majorly affects your grade later on. Never procrastinate, always do your work if you want to go to bed early. Go to bed early if you can!!! I know it might seem cool to go to bed late, but in reality you are hurting yourself. You need that extra 2 hours of sleep to grow and be energized for the next day. Don't let anybody get to you, because they are minor. Stay focused on your work and trying to be great. Do as many sports as you can, when you get to high school you'll figure out which ones you like best. always listen to your parents, teachers, and coaches. They are yelling for a reason.
Personal Narritive Reading resonse
Currently in English class we are writing personal narratives (Whoooohooo!!!). My narrative is about developing my work ethic and how I did it. If you read my narrative you can definitely tell I was brave for working in the Louisiana heat and yeah brave. I tried to put focus on describing the big and little things, I thought this would help me. For example I described the tractor I worked on, and I gave y'all all the possible detail I could on it. At first my narrative was just kind of an overview of the summers where I developed my work ethic. Then I went back and edited it and now it is one specific scenario. this was kind of hard, because I couldn't think of a specific scenario, so I basically summed up what I did every day and just put them in order in the way they happened. Ever since I put the specific scenario in, my narrative seems less organized.

Hurricane Katrina was a category 3 hurricane that hit New Orleans August 29th, 2005. The people of New Orleans were told to evacuate August 28th. Most of the city evacuate when the storm hit, and the most of the people who stayed either stayed in their house, or found refuge in the superdome. Nearly 2,000 people died, because of Katrina.
Katrina was a terrible natural disaster that brought the community of New Orleans even closer than it was. It reminds me of a situation we just had in Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago, The Great Flood of 2016. Both situations showed the true colors of both cities in the boot. You could see people of all different shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and religions helping each other. My dad's company Cajun Constructors had a bunch to do with getting all the water out of the city. he also built the flood wall that surrounds New Orleans today.

response to current outside reading book
My current outside reading book is Texasville by Larry McMurtury. Texasville so far doesn't really have a story line to it, it's just following the main character Duane and his family around. Duane is a man in Thalia, Texas who owns an oil company post-boom, when the oil prices are at an all time low. He is going bankrupt, and can only hope for prices to go back up.
This is one of the most funny and relatable books for me, because first it takes place in Texas, and its takes place during the down fall of oil prices. My family has a ranch in South Texas, during the boom all the towns had retail stores and motels opening daily. Now since the prices have gone down, business has kind of left.

Something exciting
Something exciting that has taken place, actually within the past two days was my first varsity football game. We were playing Christian Life and that whole entire school day I found myself not being able to pay attention during any of my classes, I was just thinking about the game. After school was over we ate pica dilly in the cafeteria. I had a scrumptious Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and spinach. Then Wayne Stabiler, Alders Melton, and I left for UHigh. We got ready in the smelly locker-room t and went out to practice plays in the scorching heat. I really started to get nervous then. When the game started I was still kind of nervous, but when it was my turn to go in believe me I was very nervous. I had gone in, because Wayne had gotten tired. Even though it was the second quarter Wayne played on both sides of the ball, which is very taxing. On my first play of varsity football was just like any other game I had played in seventh or eighth grade. I just did what I know best and that is playing linebacker. On the second play I made my first tackle, then went back out. Later on n the game I got some more playing time, but overall the experience was awesome and am looking forward to the season ahead
Independent reading response
My independent book I am reading is called Texasville by Larry McMurtry. This is by far one of the most funny books I have read. I would not recommend it if you're under the age of 18, because I can tell you right now it was not meant for a young teenage audience. Every page you read it is guaranteed you will laugh out loud. So far the book is generally about a man that is going broke from the bad oil prices, and his family. I find it easily to relate to, because my family has a ranch in south Texas and the closest town was thriving during the oil boom, new motels and restaurants popping up everywhere, now with the low prices you can see that many businesses have closed down, and that the population has gone down.
