Lotf reading response

Currently we are reading Lord of the Flies as a class in English. So far this book has been enjoyable, even though we have only read the first two chapters. I'm ready for this book to pick up, but I know it will come soon. I couldn't imagine being on an uninhabited island with out any adults and only kids my age and younger.

Human Nature post

I don't think you can really describe human nature. Sure, when not in not in stressful conditions some humans are mean, or nice. When humans are put into stressful survival situations things change a bit. During these situations humans are doing whatever they can do to survive, and not asking how their friend is doing. I think we will see more of this in the LOTF as the story goes on. I can promise you during this stressful survival situation we will see some backstabbing, and things that our gut will wrench from just reading.
I have had a lot of experience around people. Most of the time I'm in large social events I typically observe people. One experience that has helped me understand people is having a horse. It's basic things in horse training that a think about when I see a child begging, or doing something he is not supposed to do. If you let a horse eat grass while you are reading him he thinks its ok to do so. So if you kick him when he bends down he knows not to do that anymore, because he will get kicked. You can do the same thing in parenting.

Reading response

The other day I saw something on social media that was some bad news for ranchers. Beef prices are to remain low through 2019. Wanting to be a rancher this caught my eye, and I wondered how are ranchers going to make it? Other questions raced through my mind like "Do I really want to do this when I get older?" and I have not found the answer yet. Considering I graduate in 2020, which is after 2019, hopefully we will see an upward trend in beef prices, and hopefully raising cattle will be a sustainable way to make a living.
The main reason for the decline in prices is due to a quick herd expansion after years of prolonged drought according to the Texas farm bureau. The USDA projects beef production will rise 5.2% this year and will climb 3.4% in 2017. "The meat sector is expanding across the cattle, hog and chicken industries, putting the U.S. on track for a year of record meat production and declining prices." says the Texas Farm bureau. Fall Break free topic

This fall break has been like no other. The only break I had was two days from school. I still had a regular football schedule. Thursday I had practice from like 9:30-10:45 and Friday I had a football game. I'm not sure if I like having football during fall break, but I will have to get used to it, because this will be the same for the next four years of my life.
Usually during fall break my dad takes my brothers and me to our ranch in Texas. My brothers typically like to hunt during this time of year, but I am not as enthusiastic due to the Texas heat. El Tesoro, our family ranch, is a safe haven for me. I can go there without worrying about anything and can do just about anything I want. When I am there during fall break it is time to relax and just enjoy life. I wish this year I had that opportunity, but I shouldn't frown, because I will be there for thanksgiving.

Response of Louisiana article

I believe that blaming the Great flood of 2016 on climate change is crazy. We have no factual evidence that climate change caused this flood. Just because there was a 0.1 percent chance of this flood happening does not mean that climate change is responsible. I don't even think that rebuilding Louisiana should even be a question. Of course we should! Louisiana is a state defined by it's people and is so culturally diverse. The people here are of like people you have never met. There is only one word that describes us "Louisianans". But then again it is the choice of the people to come back, and I know some people might not, because of the situation we they are in. I think this is a ver broad question, because ut could be talking about re-building Louisiana financially, socially, and physically. I agree that this state needs a lot of work, but the people here always find a way.

Reading response

Currently in Texasville Duane, a bankrupt owner of any oil company is planning the tow of Thalia, Texas' centennial. Already he has planned for the town to have a pageant, and the debate has been over who to hire and what all the pageant will encompass. Some people want the pageant to go all the way back to the creation of Earth and some don't.
I feel like these are typical small town issues and problems. For example the city of Houston wouldn't have a pageant for a centennial celebration and wouldn't debate who to hire, because Houston nearly has 5 million people living in it. I have always wanted to live in a small town it's just so laid back, small, and cozy. I have been to many small towns and have spent some time in small towns.

Free Post

Well, last week we were supposed to write a 100-word FICTIONAL story. While I wrote my 100-word story, it was not fictional. My brother, cousin, and cousins friend actually snuck onto the rural life museum and swam across a like to get to an island with goats on it. Yes, we actually roped the goats and yes, my cousins friend actually rode one.
Today was similar to that Sunday last week with a few exceptions. It was my two brothers this time and my brother's two friends. This weekend there were actually people at the Burden Center so we couldn't go our usual route, we had to make some detours. As we were wondering through the property I thought to myself "What a beautiful place". We got to the outskirts of the lake and we could clearly see the island, but we didn't see any goats. Stewart and Ethan my brother Crawford's friend were starting to doubt Crawford and Me. The previous day my cousin was there and he said he saw the goats, but where were they?! Crawford decided to go a different way back to Burden Street where we had parked our golf cart. My brother led us to a storm creek and we had to end up walking a half mile to our golf cart. That sums up our trip to the Burden Center this week, can't wait to tell y'all what goes on next week!
